FML 1 mg

This medicine is used in treating some eye conditions due to injury or inflammation (swelling). Physicians may also prescribe this medicine for other purposes not listed in this document. While the active ingredient of this medicine is Fluorometholone, it also contains other inactive ingredients such as dibasic sodium phosphate, sodium hydroxide, purified water, and others. FML 1 mg belongs to the class of medications called anti-inflammatory corticosteroids ophthalmic. This medicine helps to relieve symptoms such as itching, redness, and swelling of the eye. FML 1 mg works by blocking the production of a certain chemical substance (prostaglandins), which provokes swelling and redness of the eye.

Administration

Using 1-2 times per day this medicine is considered the recommended dose or as directed by your doctor. Your doctor may increase your dosage for several weeks in case you do not notice the desired result. Do not use FML 1 mg more often than your prescribes because your medical condition will not improve faster.

• Before using FML 1 mg, shake well the bottle and wash your hands.
• Remove the contact lenses in case you wearing them. After each use of Fluorometholone, it is advised to wait at least 10-15 minutes before wearing contact lenses again.
• You need to make a pouch to apply the medicine by pulling down the lower eyelid. Place 1-2 drops of the medicine into the pouch and close the eyes for roughly 1-2 minutes. It is not allowed to blink and rub your eye.
• To decrease the risk of draining out the medication, put your finger at the corner of your eye and press gently.
• If your doctor prescribes FML 1 mg for both eyes, repeat the steps listed above for another eye.
• If you are using other eye medicines, it is recommended to wait at least 5 minutes before using another medicine.

Dosages

The dosages usually are based on age, weight, other medicines that you may be using, the severity of your health condition, and response to treatment. Do not use FML 1 mg or consult a doctor if you are not sure what dosage is better for you. Missed Dose

If you forget to administer the medication, you should take the dose as soon as you remember. In any case, if it is too close to the time for the next dose, simply skip the dose and continue the regular treatment. It is not allowed to administer an increased dose the next time to catch up because your risk of severe negative effects may increase.

Overdose

Rarely, you may experience an overdose due to an increased dose of FML 1 mg. If you experience any of the following symptoms, stop taking FML 1 mg and get medical help right away. Examples include a fast or pounding heartbeat, severe dizziness, breathlessness, passing out, and others. Talk to a doctor for more details.

Side Effects of FML 1 mg

Precautions

Storage

• It is recommended to store this medicine at room temperature and away from direct sunlight and moisture. Additionally, you should not keep FML 1 mg in the bathroom.
